Ein Gospel, frei nach «Iron Maiden»
Sie liessen das Establishment beben: «Iron Maiden». Das Album «Number of the Beast» sorgte für den weltweiten Durchbruch der englischen Band. Das war vor mehr als 25 Jahren. Höchste Zeit also, um aus dem Titellied einen waschechten Gospel zu kreieren. «Number of the Beast» - dieses Album gilt als eines der wichtigsten Heavy-Metal-Alben. Wegen dem Titellied wurde der Band teilweise vorgeworfen, satanistisch zu sein. Die Jahre zogen ins Land - seit der Iron Maiden Gründung bisher 34 Jahre - und namhafte Musiker aus dieser Epoche bekennen sich heute zu Jesus Christus. So etwa Ex-Megadeth-Bassist David Ellefson, Alice Cooper («Satan ist mein grösster Feind!») oder Ex-Korn-Gitarrist Brian Welch («In Gott habe ich Frieden gefunden»). Auch ein Mitglied von Iron Maiden, Schlagzeuger Nicko McBrain, haut heute für Gott auf die Pauke (Drummer von Iron Maiden in Worship-Band). Höchst Zeit also, dass der Song, der Iron Maidens Bandgeschichte prägte, um eine Gospel-Version bereichert wird. Hits um einen Gospeltext erweitern, diese Idee ist nicht neu. Martin Luther und Heilsarmee-Gründer William Booth taten dies, um den Menschen den Glauben an Gott näherzubringen. Jesus.ch lässt diese Idee aufleben. In dieser Folge wird aus dem Kracher «Number oft the Beast» der Song «Number oft the Lord». Aus einem Lied, das viel zu diskutieren gab, wird hier der Urschrei des Gospel-Rocks. Iron Maiden
